Frugal Friday- St. Patrick's Day Wreath

Remember our Valentine's Wreath? I just took the Valentine's decor off of it and replaced it with some cute green accents, so that it is ready for St. Patrick's day!

The clovers are made from glitter foam craft sheets. I made the wire clover and will show you how in a future post!

Things We Love Thursdays: Silpat

I've heard lots of good things about Silpat Non-Stick Baking Mats.  I finally decided to break down and buy myself one (okay, two!) just over a month ago and I am kicking myself for not getting one sooner!  I cannot tell you how much I love this thing.

I make pizza every Friday night and my granite counter tops, while beautiful to look at, are just not suited for rolling out doughs.  No matter how much flour I put down, the dough would just stick.  I am happy to say I no longer have that problem.  :)

Okay, I knew I would love it for rolling out dough (pizza, sugar cookies, breadsticks), but I didn't realize how much more I would use it.  It's perfect for baking cookies, biscuits, rolls and my pretzel buttons.  I no longer have biscuits or cookies with dark brown or crispy bottoms.  Everything cooks more evenly and nothing sticks to the pan.  And just a quick wipe with a wet dishrag is all they need to clean up.  Makes me a happy person.  :)

So if you are on the fence like I was, or have never even heard of these before, let me make the decision for you: just go for it, you'll love it! :)

What are your favorite kitchen gadgets?

Buttery Bread Machine Rolls

These are officially my husband's favorite rolls!  I just love homemade rolls and I love being able to use my bread maker to do all the "hard" work. :)

Buttery Bread Machine Rolls
  • 1 cup warm milk (70 to 80 degrees F)
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 4 cups bread flour
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
Place all ingredients in the bread machine pan in the order suggested by manufacturer. Select dough setting (check dough after 5 minutes of mixing; add 1 to 2 tablespoons of water or flour if needed).

When cycle is completed, turn dough onto a lightly floured surface. Divide into 24 portions; shape into balls. Place in a greased 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking pan. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 15 minutes. Bake at 375 degrees F for 13-16 minutes or until golden brown.

***I baked mine on a cookie sheet because I was worried it would be too many rolls in the 13x9.  They came out great, but next time I might try them in the pan -- I love being able to pull apart rolls. :)  I also ran a stick of butter over the tops of them as soon as they came out of the oven.

Polyvore- yellow

yellow

I love the color yellow and have been wanting to get myself a pair of yellow shoes this year, but haven't done it yet. I love the pop of color and how bright and cheery yellow makes me feel!

Sunday Best: Fashion & Crafts

Thanks to everyone who linked up last week!  Our features this week all have something in common: stripes!  I LOVE stripes right now and these features are proof of that.  Make sure you grab a featured button under our "Grab a Button" tab.

First up is this cute outfit from You and Me Plus 3.  I love the yellow & the blue and the big belt.

How cute is this?!  I love the black and white and red.  I'm trying to decide if I can do something similar for St. Patrick's Day.  :)  Check out Southern Lovely for the details.

I'm beginning to think I need to raid Sara's (The House of Shoes) closet!  I love this outfit -- the colors, the shoes, and yes, the stripes. :)

Okay, now it's your turn to show us your outfits & crafts.  Who knows, maybe you'll be featured next week!
